What are TPE/TPR Sex Toys Materials&Compare with silicone

TPE and TPR are thermoplastics widely used on the sex toys products market, many sex toy manufacturers use it. They both have such features as easy processing and comfortable touch, their difference mainly lies in the base material: TPE is made with SEBS as its base material, while TPR’s base material is SBS.

In recent years, TPE /TPR materials have the tendency to replace silicone materials to produce sex toys products.

The hardness of TPE/TPR usually ranges from Shore A0~15 degrees, or below Shore A0 degrees. Materials with Shore A0~15 degrees are generally used to produce sex toys with small sizes and low requirements for surface gloss, suitable for injection/extrusion molding. As for ultra-soft or big-size adult products like sex dolls, the process of production usually involves heating, melting and molding etc..

Most of the TPE/TPR raw materials are transparent, other materials like flavor, color powder and pigment can be added to them in the production process according to product requirements. The use of high quality SEBS and softening oil can modify original materials to be non-toxic, tasteless, highly transparent and super soft TPE/TPR thermoplastic materials which can have a high elongation of 1000~1500%.

1.The hardness easy to be adjusted

The hardness of TPE/TPR materials used to produce adult products is usually among ShoreA0~15 degrees, but some special accessories may require ShoreA 20~80 degrees. To adjust the hardness of TPE/TPR materials is simple and easy which just needs to adjust the formula ratio of different elements. Adult products made from TPE/TPR materials can have a great softness effect that silicone materials can not achieve. 

2.Highly transparent and brightly colored 

Adult products made from silicone materials have excellent soft touch, but but they are not transparent from the exterior looks. Using TPE/TPR materials with high transparency to produce sex toys can show the a higher grade of the products. In addition, in terms of color matching, TPE/TPR products are bright in color, while silicone products generally look foggy.

3.High-efficient production and processing

The production and processing of TPE/TPR products is much more efficient than that of silicone products. Nowadays, most adult products are made from the TPE materials with the hardness of Shore A0~15 degrees or even below Shore A0 degree. They can be molded with ordinary injection molding equipment, so the production cycle is short. While silicone materials are usually molded with hydraulic press and the production cycle is relatively longer.
